Cancer and Faith

I think many of you know my story but if you don’t click here for a quick catch me up.

I know this post is a little scattered. There is so much I wanted to say but I tried not to write a novel.

Our faith before Mark got sick was solid. We were both raised in the Church but we weren’t forced into anything we both believed and were challenged by the word. When I was 16 I took a 3 month mission trip to Honduras the rocked my world. Mark had deep and true Bible knowledge (history of the whys and wheres) that made me jealous and was a challenge to me. We both lived out our faith daily but after he was diagnosed, we both became very outspoken in our faith. In the words of Mark :

“Amber and I will keep living one day at a time and trusting in God to guide us through this trial, all the way to the end. I will be cured, if it will be with earthly life or with a new body in heaven, that is up to God. My hope is in the Lord.”
That really says it all…to be honest from the beginning Mark and I felt that the Cancer would be the end of his life here on earth, we just didn’t know when. Here is one of my quotes:
Thank you for all of your prayers and e-mails of support we really appreciate it. We know that we have a mighty God controlling Marks future but it is good to know you all are petitioning on his behalf. THANKS!
We were simply praying for God’s will. It was so clear to us that the only reason were able to stay strong was because God was our strength. I’m not saying there wasn’t bad days there was, but over all we kept positive.
Anyway back to the point. It seems like If this tragedy in my life has ever affected my faith it has been now, after Mark passed away. When he was sick it was clear that I wasn’t in control but now I’m trying to control everything, instead of leaving it in God’s hands. God and MAC are helping me with this and I seem to be calming down.
One of my biggest fears after all this was anything doctor related, however last time I went to the doctor my Blood Pressure was normal PTL!
A while back we (Mark and I) were asked about doubt and if all of this caused doubt in our faith. Our answer was this, “Why would Mark getting sick cause us to doubt in God. The faith we have in him is that he loves us so much that he sent his Son to die for us, to die for me and my sins. The fact that Mark got sick doesn’t change that basic fact. No matter how bad life gets nothing will change the fact that He died for me.
Stay strong in your faith. Don’t let the worries of today take away the truth of Christs love.

Dry erase board w/ Changeable Background

~For those of you coming over from Scrappy Gifts WELCOME! I wanted to let you know 2 things. First come back on Monday to see the new background I made for this. Two come and check out my giveaway! Thanks for stopping by.

BWS tips button

I’m really excited about this because it is the first project where I don’t have to credit anyone else for the idea. Unfortunately I didn’t take many pictures but its really easy so NBD. So you may or may not know that glass and dry erase markers work together really well. I found a 12×12 inch frame at the craft store on clearance for $3.50 and got to work. First I took out the glass and backer and then primed and painted it a Copper brown.

While that was drying I found a 12×12 piece of cream paper and 4 other coordinating papers. (Trying to keep them fairly simple since they were going to be the background.) Then I punched 5 large holes out of 2 of the papers and 1 small hole. With one other paper I cut all 6 small holes. The 4th Paper is for the stems.

Then I simply shaped them as flowers and used scrap booking tape to adhere them to the background.

Lastly I attached the glass to the frame using gorilla glue so that when I wrote on it it wouldn’t move!

I plan on changing the backgrounds with the seasons…or if I get board sooner….

My First (and second) blog award.

Ok this is my first major blog fail….I think.

I received this award a few weeks ago from Bec at the i heart blog and on Thursday I got it from Jen at Hamster Central. So I guess I better get my butt in gear huh?

Here are 7 very random things about me

1. I’ve donated my hair to Locks of Love 3 times and I’m working on my 4th! I’ve donated 16, 12 and 10 inches.

This was the last time I donated in 2008.

2. I hate rooster decorations. It’s kind of an inside joke with Mark’s family now. Our house had rooster wall paper and it drove me nuts. I finally re painted and got rid of it but from then on every time we go shopping they point out every rooster. In fact look what ‘R’ got me for my birthday:

3. I where black ALOT its a part of my job we need to where dark contrasting colors. So every day I’m either wearing a black top or black pants to work. ‘R’ once joked that it looked like I worked for a funeral home.

4. I have lived in 13 different houses/apartments and one hotel (my parents ran it) in 27 years. (No, I’m not an Army kid)

5. I went on a mission trip to Honduras and lived there for 3 months when I was just 16.

6. The choice to make sign language my major in collage was a 2 min decision and it was one of the best ones I’ve ever made.

This is me after interpreting for Point of Grace.

7. I love Asian food here are some of my faves Beef and Potato (Vietnamese) Pad Thai (Thai) Kim chi, Bulgogi, ManduJap-chae (Korean) So I guess its a good thing I married MAC (he is 1/2 Korean.)
