I just picked up the Shop Smart Consumer Reports Magazine (Jan 2011) and was please to find a green section in their “Our Favorite Stuff of the year” artical. Here are their 4 favorite green things:

Behr Premium Plus Ultra

Behr claims the Premium Plus Ultra paints are all low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs), with fewer than 50 grams per liter. A recent CR test scored this the highest of all 51 paints and was the first one to get that rank that was low in VOCs. I’ve used it myself in our living room and can attest the smell was minimal and the coverage was excellent. Here is the Behr web site.

Clear2O Water Pitcher (CWS100A)

Its a water pitcher that hooks up to your faucet. Check out the website here.

Finish Quantum Dishwasher tabs.

Phosphate-free they still get off the toughest stuck on glop without leaving spots. Website.

Ecosmart 14W 60-Watt (423-599)

Warm glow not harsh light. I can’t find a website for these guys weird, but I know you can buy them at Home Depot.

So  I was listening to the radio the other day and they had an author on. The book was “Stop Calling Him Honey and Start Having Sex: How Changing Your Everyday Habits Will Make You Hot for Each Other All Over Again” by Maggie Arana and Julienne Davis. I’m not sure this is a ‘deep’ book per sae but it seems to be practical.

No I haven’t read this book, but when she was talking she had some good points. The umbrella point was pretty simple. Your spouse is more than just a roommate and if you treat him/her like one your marriage will be affected. Humm good point.

I didn’t get to listen to the whole interview but I liked the points she made before I got out of the car. Calling your spouse a ‘pet name’ especally gender nutral ones make us forget who they are. This is also a problem with calling them mommy or daddy they are not your daddy and we don’t want to think of them that way, talk about a mood killer.

They also talked about closing the bathroom door, I know we are all saying  gross of course but I’m guessing most of us are guilty of this once in a while.

I’m not sure how but I managed to not upload the whole of this house but its pretty spectacular. It’s just a block and a half from mine and they even have speakers playing the Christmas radio station.

It was cool to see the Manger scene in amongst all of the Christmas chaos.

Then of course some traditional Christmas fun.

Oh and yes I live in Minnesota, and last weekend we got more snow than we got all last year…

So yeah it was a little cold out, but Cooper enjoyed the walk.
