Strong Woman

I have this painting on my wall from my Uncle. He painted it a while back I guess and a little while ago I got an e-mail from him saying he wanted to send it to me. The picture he sent me was beautiful how could I say no?

He calls it Strong Woman and said it made him think of me. To be honest I’m not sure which way it is supposed to go, but this is the way I have it hanging in my office.

I ike it, I like that my Uncle thinks I am a strong woman, I know that I am a lot of the time. But I’m also learning that being ‘strong’ all of the time is bad for your heath. Sometimes you need outside help, sometimes you need to breakdown and cry. It takes real strength to not only know this but to act on it. That is the kind of strong woman I want to be.

Taking care of myself.

So a while back I started loosing some weight, not for the numbers per say, just because I was starting to grow out of my pants. As a 27 year old who is not pregnant that was not acceptable to me. Well I lost around 13 lbs and was very comfortable there, then I got stressed out , changed birth control and stopped exercising and well I gained it all back…not a happy girl.

So this time around I’m doing things different, I’m changing things. I’m working on the root of the problem (stress, sugar addiction and a few other things) and changing my eating and exercise habits.

Step One

  • This may shock you but I never went to therapy after Mark passed away. I am now, I had my first session last week. I dont’ want my life and Mac and I’s relationship to be affected daily by my stress. I understand there will be days and memories forever and I’m happy with that, I will never forget Mark never.
  • I’m to cheap to waste the leftovers in my fridge so over the weekend I’m going to eat them, in reasonable portions so that I don’t have to throw them away.
  • No Candy not a single piece till Mac gets back from his trip.
  • Exercise 2 times between now and Sunday

Step Two

  • Eat Raw for a week, try to get all the unhealthy processed carbs and sugars out of my system so I don’t crave them anymore.
  • Exercise 4 Times a week.
  • Continue with therapy.

Step Three

  • Continue exercising 4 times a week.
  • Eat a calorie controlled diet with limited processed foods as much as possible.
  • Continue with therapy

Thoughts on Thursday: When Away

Mac is taking off on business for a few weeks here, how do we keep it together? Well we spend lots of time together before he leaves. Go out to eat have a nice night together snuggling and watching tv/movies that sort of thing. I drive him to the airport whenever I can for that last bit of time together soon. Then while he is gone we call and e-mail everyday and try to skype pretty often too, its just better to see their face.  Also if its going to be a long trip Mac will take a pic of me and Cooper with him!

For me, in the begining I like the quite time I have a whole list of projects to do and things to surprise Mac when he gets home. But sometimes I am lonely that is when I start looking through pictures, then I”m good to go again. I also make sure I do something for me along the way, girls night out, go to the salon, you know something fun when I don’t feel guilty about spending the time away from the house.

Have any ideas for me let me know ASAP because he will be gone soon.

Life, Love, Green

You Capture: Circles

I decided to take an everyday approch to circles. The first thing I thought of was my steering wheel which I see for a good 40-60 min everyday. But it was just  to darn cold (-10) to take that picture so I moved indoors.

Green Books?

I started a book reading challenge this year, the “Take a Chance” Challenge that I found on Life…with Books. I’ll write more about the specifics of that later. Today lets focus on the fact that books arn’t all that green… so how do you reduce your impact when your an avid reader? There are lots of options here are just the ones I can think of.

  • Use your library, this one is pretty obvious and if your lucky like me there is one right on your way home.
  • Have a book exchange at work, we have a bookshelf where you can take a book or leave a book.
  • If you and your friend both like the same series and just have to have the new book right now, share it. This not only saves paper it also saves money!
  • Shop used, again saving money and paper. You can shop for used books on Ebay, Amazon, ocal bookstores almost anywhere!
  • When your done with your books, sell them to others.

Humm that is all I can think of do you have any ideas?
