My First 5K!

This weekend I hit a fun milestone in my progress towards being healthier. I ran my first 5k and it didn’t even kill me. In fact it was fun and I can’t wait to do it again!

This was a special kind of 5k though, its called an Adventure 5k and that means that throughout the 3.11 miles were 10 obstacles to complete as well. First we ran through waist high water with ‘alligators’ (inflatables.) I’m not sure this was supposed to be an obstacle I think part of the path just flooded… Then we ran maybe .5 miles and ran over some large round hay bales.

(I’m in the black shirt bottom left and right there in the middle with the hat on is my friend Sarah)

Then was another .5 mile and some of those big electrical wire spools you could either go over or under them. More running and then the net:

After the net was was a small hill and then a water fountain of  of sorts.

The next obstical was s steep hill, not only was it steep but it was also at a crazy \ angle.

Once you reached the top you had to run over some buried logs, and then on to the ‘hurdles’ it was about that time we hit the 2 mile mark.

Around the bend and down the hill to the spider maze (a lot of running up and down a hill climbing through strings) and then the Mud Slide!!!

Which left us a little muddy:

Then back up a hill and back down some mini moguls and football tires. That was the 3 mile mark. Next up was jumping over fire!

Then the mud bog and we were done!

Plus when it was all over they had firemen to hose us up and a place where you could donate your shoes to be recycled!

No Coupons for Allergy Meds but Walgreens saves the day.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

Both Mac and I have Allergies and well brand name meds are expensive. This is where the Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products come in to play.

First of all lets do the math because well these days everyone is thinking about money.  We buy in volume since two of us take the pills so 45 of the “Name Brand” pills are $28.99 While 90 of Wal-Itin only costs $24.99. That is double the pills for $4.00 less!!!

Now lets talk about how it works, well the answer to that is simple it works great! In fact the only difference I notice between the two is the price.  Another great thing about the Walgreens brand is that for most  of them have the same active ingredients so why would you not buy them. This is true of the Wal-Itin for sure and one of the major reasons I decided to try it.  Not to mention the have a 100% guarantee so if it didn’t work for me I would get my money back..

So if you want to save money and feel better try the Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products Also check out their great charity you will be helping when you buy any of their store products Walgreens Way to Well Fund™

Couponing Delima

As you may have noticed, I’ve started couponing. Mac and I have decided (prompted by the roof needing repaired) that we need to beef up our savings account again. We have one  and its fine but for our peace of mine we would like a little more in there before we replace our roof.

However with couponing comes a green deliema, often to get the best deal (some times even free) you must buy a smaller size of an item (even travel size.)

Not to mention the wasted paper since you have to buy news papers to get the coupons or print them off.

This dose not sit well with the greenie in me, not at all. So while couponing I’ve set a few rules for myself to make couponing a little more green.

  1.  ALWAYS Recycle the leftover newspapers and scrap paper from the coupons.
  2. NEVER buy the trial size even if it is free.
  3. Only buy what we will use prior to experation
  4. Don’t print coupons for items that I’ll never use
  5. Buy the largest size possiable while being smart with the coupons.
  6. Recycle all packaging.

Anyone else have ideas for me on how I can make couponing more green?
