The last 2 weeks here have been incredibly hot. Temps in the high 90s with tons of humidity making it ‘feel like’ over 100 degrees most days… Yuck.
- Drink, Drink, Drink- I’m not talking about when your running (that is next) I’m talking about all day every day. Carry a reuseable bottle with you and keep if full. According to the Mayo Clinic Website, the 8×8 rule is not true in ‘temperate condidions’ Men should drink about 13-8 oz glasses and women 9-8oz glasses. However that is just a normal day, not incuding exercise or excess heat!
- Drink more and smarter when exercising. According to the same website as above light to moderate exercising should increase your water consumption 1.5-2.5 glasses per day depending on your sweat output. Vigiorus workouts well, drink a lot! But in my personal (non-medical) opinion drink smarter. During long runs (1.5 hrs or longer for me) or in heat above 80 or humidity above 70% I think you should add a little power to your water. Personaly I like Hammer Nutrition Endurolytes Fizz Tabs over sports drinks.
Here is why, look how much better the ingredients are!!! Plus they cost about .39 cents per serving vs $1.00 for a sports drink on sale. That is the full price for the Endurolytes Tubes if you buy 3+ the price goes down.
