What I love about Mac this month is his ability to have fun.

Something I personally struggle with is the need to do, fix, and clean everything right now. If there is anything left undone I have a hard time relaxing or doing anything for fun on my own. If I have something planned with another person then its a commitment and that is different for some reason…Anyway Mac understands the need for rest, fun and taking breaks. Its something I’ve struggled with honestly. In the past I’ve looked at it as being lazy at times. But now I realize that:

  1. He helps out around the house plenty easily doing his ‘fair share” I even talked about that in my last husband challenge.
  2. I don’t take breaks, I get down on myself if I do…

So after 2 years of  us going back and forth on this it finally hit me, the problem isn’t him taking breaks its that I don’t! I don’t relax hardly ever, even when we are watching TV I’m on my laptop doing something that ‘must be done right now’ at least in my mind.

Mac’s constant example and insistence that breaks are helpful and good for you finally got through to me. This weekend I worked on a curtain project for my father in law that has been put off for far too long. I finished the first of two curtains and then ran out of matching thread. Instead of going and buying more right away I decided to make that cute blanket for Cooper that I showed you on Monday.  It was quick so I could get back to the ‘real work’ but it was fun and every time I see it around the house it makes me smile.

I might have to try this fun thing more often

Your Turn!

Please tell your friends about this event, I would honestly like to start a ‘blog movment’ of looking for the good in those we love and appreciating them openly.

The thing I most appreciate about Mac this month, is his cooking/cleaning.

The ‘problem’ with our Paintball photography business is that its a side business. I don’t have days to commit to photo editing, communications and all that goes into making it happen. Mac helps so much with this by helping out around the house and relieving that stress so that I can focus and get the photos done. Not only does this help the house stay clean it helps me stay sane!

I’m also lucky that he can cook, I’m not talking grill (although he is pretty good at that) he can actually cook. Most of his dishes have an Asian flare (makes sense since he is 1/2 Korean and lived there till he was 8 ) or are on the spicy side, and that is a perfect balance to my Midwest cooking.

We are a great team, sometimes I stress myself out I put too much pressure on myself to do everything, RIGHT NOW!!! If I just remembered that we are a team, well life would be so much simpler!

The thing I most appreciate about Mac this month, is his love of family.

The end of October beginning of November starts up hockey season around here, and for the last few years Mac has been in a league playing with his Dad. They will go out and open skate about 2 or 3 times a month to practice and then every week they play against other organized teams in a league.

I will  also get a random note or text from him on days when he is off and I’m at work saying he is going to take his mom out for lunch. They normally go to the Korean Deli, and this is normally in the summer when she is off from work, but it melts my heart when he does it.

We also go to their house every 6 or so weeks for dinner and baseball/hockey game on TV. We just hang out, watch the game, and enjoy each others company and I love it.

I miss hanging out with my family but I’m glad to know that Mac has the same love of family that I do.

Thoughts on Thursday: Oct Re-Cap

Remember last months Husband Challenge? I’ve decided that at least for a while I’m going to keep it going on the last Thursday of the month. In fact I’m going to try and start a Linky party to encourage you all to do it with me (see the end of the post.)

This month had been pretty busy for us we have done photography for our first wedding, roofed the house, I’ve gone on a paintball trip without him and ripped the carpet out of our living/dinning/hall. Phew. Through it all Mac has been great. House projects arn’t his favorite things. He likes how they turn out and make the house ares but the process is well you know. However this months we completed two big projects in two weeks and it was great!

Macs ability to pick up things is great, he has never owned a house before but he has no problem jumping in and trying things with a little instruction. Then away he goes. He became our “Master carpenter” on the roofing project filling in all the old vent holes and that allowed our friend the roofer to keep roofing! It was a great help.

As for the ripping out of carpet, Mac was sick so the first day I worked on my own and got about 2/3rds done, not bad. But when I needed help at the end to get a big piece out of the house, he came right up and helped with that. Then with a burst of energy the next day he got the rest of it out before I got home!! That was great. We worked together to rearrange the furniture and remove the last of the tack board.

I really appreciate how much he has been doing around the house. With the last few photo-shoots (paintball, wedding, paintball and another paintball trip in 2 weeks) I’ve been overwhelmed with editing. He has been great at keeping the house running and especially great at laundry (one of my least favorite things.)

So in summery this month I really appreciate my husbands willingness to help and learn about being a home owner. Its already been an adventure the last 2 years but its been great!

Now what have you appreciated about your hubby this month? Write it down and link it up!
